Check Signal Cable Message

i am getting a "check signal cable message" can anyone help. i get no picture so i cant go into the bios and such. i have swapped video cards and monitors. and i have singled out the mobo, but still not sure. any suggestions? thanks

test the RAM. try the memory in different combinations of slots and if there is more than one stick try them seperately. does it sound as if the hard drive is loading windows? could you please describe in more detail if possible, how and when this started.
