CDrom not showing within windows?

hello everyone! I got a really strange problem with my CDROm. i Turned on my computer this morning and there showed no signs of my cd-rom responding. I put a cd in and nothing booted. My computer didnt show the drive. Whats wrong?

Does the drive show up in BIOS ?

Have you installed any new applications recently, especially cd burning tools.

can you hear the disk spin up when you put it in the drive?
does the drive have power ?
did you install anything or change anything before this started happening?
is it recognized bey the BIOS?
can you see the drive in device manager?
are there any ? or ! next to it?

if all of these are a NO try the drive in another pc and then trash it if it doesnt work.
