My CD/RW drive will play audio CDs and it will access files off of a CD, but it will not recognize any of my installation CDs. I went to install a new software and nothing happened. It didn't start to install so I double clicked on the drive and it said to insert a disk. The light comes on and it makes noises as if it is going to work, but then it stops.
My firmware is up-to-date
My driver is fine
Diagnostics say that the drive is working properly
I swapped out the drive for a new one and it is doing the exact same thing
The cable is secure.
I don't see any settings that could cause the problem, but I could be missing one.
Any theories?
