CD/DVD Drives + Conflic Sybmol?

Alright. someone asked me to take a look on their computer to see why their CD/DVD drives weren't working. I booted it up and looked at the device manager and both drives have a conflict symbol next to them [yellow circle with black exclamation point]. I took them home to see if they'd work with my pc and they did. He doesn't know what caused it. He said he went to use them and they didn't work. He does have 2 younger daughters that use the computer. Any ideas/insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Did you fix the problem or are you looking for a reason as to why it happened in the first place?

If not, what error is inside the properties box?
