Do capacitors always bulge when bad? Looking at the capacitors In my lcd, they all appear flat with no leakage. Does that mean they are good?

Normal capacitor is indented, bad capacitors are not.
You'll notice right away if a capacitor is bad is when they begin to swell up and bulge out with white residue.

These are a few examples of what bad capacitors can do:

1) Computer won't turn on
2) No display
3) Random bluescreens
4) Lockups

Yeah they don't look swelled at all........The issue with the monitor is I only get video for a second after turning on, then a black screen. I sometimes see it searching for an analog or digital connection, but I can never get the menu to come up. So if I have it hooked up to a PC turning it off and on will give me a flash of the desktop, then it immediately goes black and the power light remains solid green.

I had a HannsG monitor do that same thing several weeks ago....I trashed the HannsG and got a decent LG ips monitor

Yeah I already replaced it, just playing around to see if I can fix it.

So the LED/CCFL still comes out for backlight, but no actual screen and the menu won't work? If that's the case, the controller might have gone out. It's not uncommon on lower grade monitors.
