Default cant get resolution right

hello i have an hd4850 and just bought a new monitor (samsung 2233 from sams club)

the moniter is 21.5 in and full 1080p hd yet i cant get an option above 1440x900?

installed driver cd for monitor updated drivers for hd4850 from amd site(10.2 is current)
still no love would be great if someone could point me in the right direction

also connected by dvi cable if it matters

Check in the video card driver's control panel if the monitor type set correctly.
It probably still thinks u have uyour old one with current limited resolution.
