Can't get DVD's to burn...

I just got a Pioneer 110D dual-layer 16x DVD burner with Nero software. I have burned a few audio cd's and a data disk, but have not been able to get the DVD's to burn. I get a message saying that I am using the wrong kind of disk. I have tried Sony DVD+R 1x-16x and Sony DVD-R 1x-4x and got the error message with both. I used some Imation CD-R to burn audio and they worked fine.
Do I have the wrong media to burn DVDs? If not then what could be the problem?

I tried burning a data DVD of the Iron Maiden discography, and Nero Express wouldn't let me burn it. I think it's not meant for burning DVD's.

If you wanted to burn a movie to DVD, use something like PowerProducer...

I had to use DeepBurner (which is free, if you wanted it), to burn a data DVD...

Have you updated your Nero software with the latest updates? That thru me the last time I reformated my puter and forgot to install the updates.... There are new drivers within it for newer burners.....
