Can't burn Dvds anymore...

I have the sony optiarc, got it 07 and it was suggested from tf, i can burn cds but when i try burning a dvd, it just fails, i tried all speeds, i even got a different batch of dvds,
is it normal for it to burn just cds and not dvds?
is it time i go get a new one? if so, what kind?

I think your DVD laser is bad. CD's use a separate laser.

Any DVD burner will work for you. The $20 ones are standard.

do you have any games that had securom? I installed a couple EA games several months ago and I burned DVDs/CDs fine before I did.... after I installed those games my burner don't work. the Reader does but not the burner.

I uninstalled the games and used CCleaner and stuff and still not worrking....

I ran a couple rootkit removers and one found securom on there.... I got rid of it and my drive doesn't burn....

I've always kept good care of it and cleaned it and never used really scratched discs or dirty discs in it.....

securom kills drives.
