Hi all

i hope i'm putting this in the right thread, but yea so i bought a western digital 640 external harddrive. I moved all my files there and it was fine, but i cant seem to move two of my files that are bigger than 5GB. it says the external does not have enough space.

Can anyone help me?

Thanks

Btw: if this helps File System is FAT32

Well if it doesn't have enough space than that is your problem.

Most likely it's due to the fact that FAT32 doesn't support files of that size.

Reformat the external as ntfs. Keeping in mind this will erase everything currently on the drive. Then copy everything over again.

when i reformat its either NTFS or ExFAT which one should i choose? and wahts the allocation size?

Btw, i'm using it as storage and i've used 300gb of it already, hope this helps to choose allocation unit size

Thanks alot in advance

yea i know i copied everything back to my desktop already cause the point i'm doing this is to reformat my computer since it so slow, so right now i gotta deal with the external first

Now, should i choose NTFS or ExFAT? and what allocation unit size?

Thanks!
