As long as voltage / timings are similar you shouldn't have an issue.

If you buy faster RAM, it will downclock the faster RAM to match the speed of the slower set.

But yes, getting 3 matching sticks would be best.

Turns out Avant has a lifetime warranty to the original purchaser, so it looks like I'm going to get my RAM replaced for free.
