Default Bootup Problem

My WinXP desktop will not start up when the button is pressed. Just dead. I put a tester on the power supply and it tests good. Just plugging in the tester made the psu start up, fan and all. But when I plug it back in to the mobo it won't come on.

I took the switch wires off the mobo and shorted the two pins with a screwdriver, still wouldn't power up.

Any ideas?

Could be the leads on the mobo are dead. Have you looked at all the wires and the underside of the mobo to make sure there is no damage to them?
