Black Screen of Death then OK?

The past few times i've turned on my computer it seems not to start as usual and it just gives me a black screen. I then press reset and it boot's up fine.WTF? Any suggestions on what to check would be greatly appriceated. Thanks in advance

Could be a dieing PSU. Could be a failing CMOS battery.

Just bought i new MOBO a few months ago so i don't think it's the CMOS battery. And i've only had this computer just over 2 years so i really hope it's not the PSU.

just because the battery/motherboard is new doesn't rule it out though, it does make it unlikely.

not neccessarily. just do the usual analysis. try different parts known to be good, if possible and you may find something that works
