So pulled this out of my fathers laptop, he was having boot issues and its no wonder if gnome disks is to be believed:

Yeah, funny thing is that my fathers hard drive died the same time as one of mine.
I have a seagate I salvaged from a HP desktop, 4 bad sectors but kicked around for a year or so before giving up
 
I work in digital forensics, and thankfully I don't touch that part of the business any more, because bad sectors were the bane of my life. Whenever imaging a drive, if we ran into a single bad sector we had to re-image, and then again if there were still bad sectors. After three attempts we'd keep the image with the least bad sectors.

This made the process of imaging a drive - which often we'd have to leave overnight due to the volumes and old age of some drives - much longer than it would be otherwise.
