it was the HD the bad news is it was a backup drive i gotta find a way to get it to read 1 more time or i lost alot of files will have to get alot of cd-r's to back it up thanks for all the help

Try putting it in a freezer bag and freezing it for an hour. Sometimes that will get you a final hoorah...

I picked that tid-bit up from Computer Shopper magazine, in an article about worst case computer scenarios.

I haven't had to try it myself. Something about the cold and the metal of the disks.

The bad news is, "I just lost a 500GIG HDD full of DATA"...

The good news is, "I just saved a ton of money on my car insurance by switching to geico..."

my network admin at school actually heard of the freezer trick and has used it a few times, i had to try it on a HDD for one of my english teachers but it didnt work so i guess it depends on its condition...

Yea id say so....... If its like burned up (black burn marks) then i doubt the trick would work, but normal wear and tear it might work....
