backwards compatible

to the best of my knowledge pc 3200 and pc 2700 ram is backwards compatible and i know it will run at the slower speed is there a specific way it needs to go in to a computer. the setup is my gfs hp it has two channels (fourslots) one channel contains two sticks of pc 2700 256 mb ram and the other channel is empty and i have two sticks of pc 3200 256 mb i am not using can i just put it in and it will work or do i have to split it like one 2700 and one 3200 per channel.i dont want ot risk damaging her comp(though i know the risk is nearly non existent ) but i would like to know if there is a proper way to do this and if in fact it is compatible

It should work fine. You should just put in the sticks in alteration. 32, 27, 32, etc.
