Audigy 2 ZS won't digital output to AV Receiver

I am having trouble with my Audigy 2 ZS that won't send digital output to my Pioneer AV Receiver. Anyone know the trick here? I've got a 1/8" cable that converts to a L/R RCA cable. Then the RCA cable plugs into a digital coax input on my receiver. But I only get front L/R. I hear I'm hosed with this sound card and my receiver won't be able to decode the signal put out by the digital output jack on my card. Is it really hopeless?

Which AV receiver do you have ? Do you have a 'link' to it ?
If it is 'S/S' , you need a full 'digital input jack'.
R/W is only left & right........
