i just got this card today everything works fine when i am actively using my pc but when i got to sit idle it freezes my screen saver dont even kick in is there anything i need to set up that will stop this???


motherboard is MSI KT400A MS-KT4AV-L
CPU- AMD 1.4Ghz
Memory 256 PC2700

You should try updating your drivers from ati.com. I've had that same card for a couple years and it's working fine for me.

sounds more like a power management thing, maybe check you power shceme and verify your settings. Also always get the newest drivers from the manufactuer when you install a device.
