Default Asus P5QL Pro BSOD

I just installed this board on my bro's PC and it was fine all day while i formatted his HDD and installed XP. But when he got home and started installing WoW he got 2 BSOD's and then all of the sudden they were gone. I checked and the ram he is using isn't on his boards QVL, but would having incompatible RAM cause a BSOD? Any ideas or suggestions would be helpful, i also made sure he had the latest version of his BIOS and told him to only use 1 stick for the time being.

I ran the memtest on both sticks and they tested out fine, so i am thinking since they aren't on the mobo's QVL, that may be causing the BSOD, so i plan to order some new ram for him, but not Ballistix again, i'll get him the same G skill i have.
