Asus ML228H 21.5" Question about Ports.

Hi I ran across this monitor for my new computer. and bought it,
Come to using it i notice a "For HDMI" and another symbol on it (looks kinda like an audio symbol) Sorta?
anyway my roomate, swore its an audio jack for headphones or what have you, but i cannot get it to work,
i am very new to the computer settings and modifying audio stuff, so im not sure if im missing the setting to
get this to work or what.
any help with this is much appreciated!

Sounds like it has internal speakers. You plug that into your sound card on your desktop.

for starters, are you using a HDMI port on your computer with a HDMI cable?
the included cable is a DVI to HDMI cable, which does not trasmit sound.
you must use HDMI port and a HDMI cable to get sound.
