any way to clean cpu ?? (dust )

hii guys..
well my cpu has gathered some dust in it.. behind fan
actually I have never took out P4 cpu..ya..
so need help and afraid bit more because of that sticker warranty void if removed..

ohh i hate those things...the way they clip in and all

its kinda tricky to get em out, you have to pop the clip up and spread the clips out while you pull up, but make sure to warm the pc up first to help deter the cpu from sticking to the heatsink via thermalpase/tape

Use compressed air to blow out the dust.

Wow, I thought that fan was burnt up or something. Anyways, to clean it, use those Compressed Air cans. Remember to touch metal before you take out the fan+heatsink.

Thanks, I did it with the help of you guys.. keep rocking... I took out fan and heatsink .. did it clean it away..

Um.. you did put new cooling paste on it after, right?

Whenever you remove a heatsink it's necessary to clean and repalce the thermal compound. For best results at any rate.

Also, whenever you blow compressed air into your fans, keep a finger on them so they don't spin at speeds they're not designed for.

Why in the world did you remove the heatsink to just clean it? Compressed air would clean it up pretty good by itself. Removing the fane to get under it I can see, but removing the whole heatsink...?
