Default Another Custom Built Comp Freezes

Im a civil drafter and our IT guy built me a new computer, but we cant seem to get it to stop freezing, when it freezes it turns into a broken record with what ever sound is playing, completely locks up (no mouse movement, no Ctrl-Alt-D) it forces me to restart it manually. I had a Geforce GTX275 video card and then i replaced it with a Nvida Quadro FX1700 to see if that was my issue but that hasnt fixed it. It will mostly freeze when i am zooming or panning in Autocad C3D, it will take 3 hours of works sometimes but then it can also freeze in 15 minutes. I also have noticed it freezing in the middle of the night on the logon screen with the windows screen saver going.

Build
-Intel Core2 Quad CPU Q9550 @2.83 GHz
-4gb of ram (2X 2GB Intel Core2)
-320GB Western Digital HD
-EVGA 132-YW-E179-TR LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 790i SLI ATX Intel Motherboard
-650w ATX PS

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Did you manually set the RAM timings and voltage in the BIOS? System freezing is very often caused by RAM issues.

With the GTX275 try using the older 186.18 drivers from Nvidia. Uninstall your present driver thru the Control Panel, reboot in Safe Mode and run Driver Sweeper. Select NVIDIA - Display and NVIDIA - PhysX, click Analyse and then Click Clean. Reboot normally and install the appropriate Driver below.

Driver Sweeper - Guru3D - Driver Sweeper

Vista and Win7 64-bit - NVIDIA DRIVERS 186.18 WHQL
Vista and Win 7 32-bit - NVIDIA DRIVERS 186.18 WHQL
Win XP - NVIDIA DRIVERS 186.18 WHQL
XP 64-bit - NVIDIA DRIVERS 186.18 WHQL

If I were you I'd run memtest.
Possibly a bad RAM stick.
