All VOIP programs (skype, yahoo, msn) cause PC crash (only voice calls, chat ok)???

Hi,
I am posting "CPUID" info below (took "dump" info out to shorten), but if more is needed please let me know.

Issue: When using skype I can chat, but when I place or receive a call, PC crashes & reboots abruptly. I thought it was skype but then I used yahoo messenger to make a call, and the same happens.

Previous History: I think my mainboard was faulty from factory, because from the very beginning I had issues with onboard sound. Since I am abroad now, I just bought a PCI sound card instead. I´m on Windows XP Pro sp2.

Not sure if an error log is created....where can I look, if so?

I'm not sure about skype, but I know with Vonage I had to have a router that had phone jacks built in... are you sure that is not the case with this?

Okay i am a bit confused. You have had difficulties with onboard sound the whole time. So you went and got a PCI Video Card? Do you mean to say that you got a PCI Sound card?

Sound driver makes sense. I´ll check for updates. Any other ideas?

Alright check for newer sound drivers for the PCI sound card. You might also want to disable the onboard sound card in the BIOS as well. Some systems it is not necessary, others it is.

If you do not disable it you will want to make sure that in the Control Panel under sound that it is using the PCI sound card. Not the onboard as well.

ok, I think I have good news: the PCI soundcard driver (Hercules Muse LT) on my PC is dates 2001, and I just downloaded a 2003 version from their website.

Question: I see several sound devices under device manager, such as audio codecs, legacy audio controlers, and "Gamsorround Muse LT Audio device". I assume this last one is the only one I need to remove, and then install the newer one?

Bump! No answer on the above post? Too hard 4 u guys?? hahah

By the way, now I find out that skype does work when a usb microphone is plugged in, but still crashes when a regular headset is plugged in (green plug + pink plug).

Freakn weird, if you ask me!!!!!!!!

The a lot of accepted affairs for VoIP in Europe is Skype. This software affairs is for chargeless and enables humans to accomplish buzz calls amid computers.
