Accessing C drive, system hangs

Hey there folks,

Just found this site via Google, hopefully a guru or two can help me with my issue

For quite a while now my computer has been doing this. When I go to access the C drive and/or "My Computer" via Windows Explorer or any other program, the program I am accessing from hangs for about 20-30 seconds before finally lets me see/click to subdirectories. At one point it stopped doing it for about a month, then started again. Very weird and fristrating. It kills productivity while working for opening/saving files. I am not sure if it is my hard drive (Raptor 10k drive) or if it is a Windows problem (XP Service pack 1).

Any help/guidance appreciated!

Not sure whats wrong but I would recommend downloading SP2! Its free

I have definitely wanted to but there are a few of my programs that it causes issues with such as Adobe Suite and Macromedia products. Seems like a lot of impending headaches if I bump up <gulp>.
