5870 question Memory Clock

hello i just wanted to ask why my thing is just Memory Clock 1200mhz although it says on the 5870 description is Memory Clock 4800mhz? is there something wrong with my card?

It's 1200MHz when you're not playing games, and 4800 when you are - it lowers the memory speed to save electricity. Since, running it at full power all of the time would be a huge waste of electricity.

nope, it's actually because gDDR5 is QDR ram (quad-data-rate). 1200*4 = 4800 effective.

So to answer your question, nope nothing is wrong.

Ah, fair enough. I had been thinking along those lines but thought that it should be 1200 * 5, not * 4
