Default 24 to 20 pin...

Hey, I have a 24 pin power supply, but my motherboard is 20 pin, can I still plug my power supply into my motherboard and have it run fine? I don't want to buy an adapter...

if the 24 pin is backwards compatable... u should be able to detatch 4 of the pins from one of the sidesand then plug it in as a 20 pin.
