1) I just bought a new cpu fan. I took my old fan/hs out. There's some old thermal greese smudged over the cpu. Do I have to worry about it? as in, must I clean it or do anything prior to installing the new cpu fan and heat sink?

2) I just bought a new SATA II hard drive. Though my motherboard does not support SATA II it supports SATA I. I know I have to use a jumper so that it can work with mine, but just out of curiousity what happens if I don't? will it still work or will it not?

Thanks.

Hello,

1. You need to clean the thermal interface material off from the die of the CPU and surface of the heatsink, then re-apply new thermal interface material each time you remove the heatsink from the CPU. Arctic Silver 5 and Arctic Cooling MX-1 are excellent thermal interface material to use.

2. I'm not sure.

Hey guys...
