100gb?!?!?!

So.. today i noticed i only had around 1gb of space left on my 200GB harddrive. I thought this was odd since i don't have THAT much stuff on my comp. I checked C: and found that i indeed did only have 1gb left. But when i was actually in C: and selected all the files and clicked on properties. it showed that i only had 100GB in my C:. Any idea where the other 100GB is?

i had the same problem with a small 128mb mp3 player, i used it for months then after awhile it would only hold 3 songs and it said i was using all 128mb, all i did was format it and it was fine

Have you got any partitions?

Have you tried disk cleanup? May have been looking at one too many high res porn images.

go into disk management and make sure there is no unallocated space and if there is just expand the drive.

also, there are things known as hidden files .. most of the time thats where everything hides.

1gig of space on the windows partition slows down computers nowdays.. I'd say check these folders for stuff to delece (under xp)

c:/documents and settings/your username(or other peoples)/local settings.. Look around in these directory's for folders like "temp" and "temporary internet files".. they could be taking up a decent amount.

You could always go out and buy programs that do this for you.. like The Ultimate troubleshooter v3

why not just use CCleaner its free and does the same thing, but its almost impossible to have 100GB of temps. may free up about 1-2 gb but not 100.

I accumilated 4 and a half gig of temporary files in 7 months.
