I just put together a new computer last night, but I coulnd't get XP to install. Everything seems ok when the computer boots up, and the OS begins so intall itself right away. However, in the middle of the installation, a blue Stop error screen pops up with the following message:

*** Stop:0X0000007E (0X0000005, 0XF748EOBF, 0XF78DA208, OXF78D9508)

*** pci.sys - Address F748EOBF base at F748700, Datestamp 3b7d855c

I have an MSI P35 Neo2-Fr mobo, Intel Q6600 Quad CPU, EVGA 9800 GTX GPU, 4GBs of G-SKill DDR2 PC6400 ram, and a 320GB Samsung HD. All there components are brand new.

Does anyone know what this error message means or how to fix it? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks alot.

Could be either a faulty boot sector on your hard drive which is what i had. Mine was coming up with same sort of error as yours and needed a replacement. Or a BOIS setting on your motherboard.

My suggestion would be to find a spare hard drive and try installing on that and refresh the CMOS see if that helps

I got the same results with 2GB of ram. Unfortunately, the only other HDs I have around are toast =/. And what's the CMOS?

It appears that G-Skill is not listed on MSI's website as supported RAM. Does this seem the likely culprit?
