x6 vs i7

Some people debate it but i say yes. My i5 at 4.2ghz bottlenecks my 465 in benchmarks so id say 2 465s clocked the same as my current one would need even more speed. My 280s lit up after i reached the 4ghz mark in processing power as well back in the day.

wanna also remember that the prices are as follows currently:
phenom ii x6 1090t: 239.99
6-core 3.2ghz
phenomm ii x6 1100t: 299.99
3.3-3.7ghz 6-core

the 1100t looks closer in performance to the 980x than the 1090t.

I don't believe that is correct, everything I've read states that AMD's 6 core chips perform about as well as some i5 quad core chips. The new Sandy Bridge Core i7 2600K supposedly performs about as well as the 980x with less cores and supposedly it'll be priced at $330, (sure hope that parts true!)

MMM I can't wait for this next upgrade :D

^You need to look at the tests done. As that is only partly true. The tests needs to be able to fully utilise all cores, or the 980x sits idle.

I'd hope new i7 tech would be clock for clock as good as tech now.
