x38 with 8800gts, or 680i with 8800gts (and add a second in the future)?

Seems like 8800gts is a well liked card but still doesn't let you run everything at high settings. I was going to get a x38 mobo with it and was wondering if it would be better to go with a SLI board like a 680i and then pick up another 8800gts in a few months when they're cheaper.

Also will I be able to SLI two of those with the PSU I'm intending on getting?

I have a 8800GTS for 190 shipped right now in hot-deals. I doubt you're going to see them drop lower than that for a LONG while.

For the money, a 680i is a great board. I've been hearing bad things about some of the new 780is.

750i ftw... $189 on newegg.. cheaper then most x38's... Performs on par with 780i, only has sli x2 though (unlike 680i and 780i x3) But the 8800 gts 512 can only be SLI'D x2 so Its not a problem.

Hmm that 750i FTW looks nice I might go with that now. I keep changing my decisions over and over!!!

I should go with the 2gb of crucial ballistix 1066 instead of the 800 now right?

Grievearz what brand 8800gts you have? I seem the ranging from 199 to mid 200's

It's a g92 that he is selling (512mb - fyi the best one of the GTS's if you didn't know)... go hop on that deal, he even has the receipt if you wanna step it up to a 9800gx2 (which i bet u don't but lol)

well as you can see i possess said GTS graphics card and said 750i motherboard and well what can i say.. Superb! runs all games on "High". My only niggle would its been bloody hard getting my E6600 to 3.2Ghz, yet thats probably down to my noobish OCing skills :p

Id go with a Wolfy or Yorky CPU and EVGA card so you have the option to use the EVGA step-up program which basically holds the price of your card for 9 months and you pay the difference to upgrade, im thinking step-up to 9900gtx in Q4 or a cheaper 9800GX2. Yeh man i recommend it :)
