I recently bought http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819103562
AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ Manchester 2000MHz HT Socket 939 Dual Core Processor Model ADA3800BVBOX - Retail

And i was wondering... Do i have to buy a mother board that says X2 compatible or will most likley any 939 board work..

This is the mother board i was looking to get
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813131540
ASUS A8N-SLI Premium Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4 SLI ATX AMD Motherboard - Retail

I was wondering if that will work with my processor and if i need to flash or something....

THANKS!

EDIT: This is for a gaming rig... so i dont know if that info was needed..

It will boot no matter what. If it only detects one CPU than you will have to flash the BIOS, but the older boards that don't natively support X2's would have been filtered out by now.

Are you planing on utilizing SLi? If not go for a number of non-SLI motherboards that will do you fine, that can run that chip, and saves you money while doing so. Asus, MSI (but make sure you research), EPoX (their 9NPA+Ultra with latest BIOS can easily run the X2 3800+), and DFI (but only if you are into overclocking).

By the way, excellent choice for a cpu.

k, no need to complicate everything. here is what you want.

if your not using SLi, Sli is waste of money.
get the MSI K8n neo4-f
if u r gonna use sli get
Asus A8n sli deluxe.

Aight thanks guys.. The only reason i got the x2 is because it was on like a 1 day sale or something.. like 265 i think
