Default X1800XT a good option?

Just looking for some opinions. I like to really look into things before I buy and was wondering what you guys thought og the X1800XT. I was originally considering a Nvidia 7600 but thoguth this might be a reasonable movement up whiel not getting too pricey. (New rig so mobo chipset is not an issue.)

The x1800xt is an excelent card. It outperforms the 7900gt in many situatuions. It is my number 1 choice for a sub $300 card. I am actually getting one myself to go with my new build.

7900GT for a great price after rebate. Plus comes with a free version of King Kong.

The X1800XT would be a much better option over the 7600GT. However, it takes up 2 slots.

X1800XT wasn't as good as the 7800GTX. The 7900GT is practically the same as a 7800GTX with a smaller die size and higher overclockability. Still, it's a great card for how much it costs.

Thats where you're wrong. The x1800xt is actually slightly better then the 7900gt. I mean at lower resolutions with no AA or AF they are just a few fps apart but when you turn those up the x1800xt starts to pull away. The x1800xt and 7900gt are both great cards with similar performance so it comes down to which card looks better in games. Most people agree the x1800xt looks better.

Wait wait wait, one thread your saying a 7900GT will practicaly pwn anything and now your saying a last gen card is gonna pwn it ?? You where also saying that a 7900GTX is like an X1900XT which would obviously be alot better than an X1800XT. So now your trying to tell me the card thats almost as good as a 7900GTX can get pwned by X1800XT, so the X1900XT will pwn the living 'heck' outa the 7900GTX and the X1900XTX will be the best out of all them pwning everything in site? Just look at what you guys have been telling everybody and you will get what im saying. Make up your minds.
