Default X-FI Extreme Gamer Fatal1ty Pro Series Sound Card

I was just wondering if anybody here is using this sound card, and if it is a great improvement over onboard sound?

I mainly want to use this with head phones.

If this would be a good set -up, could someone recommend me a good set of head phones to go with this card.....it will be used for gaming only.

Thanks guys.

Unless you get some super nice 5.1 headphones, you won't get the same quality from the soundcard as if you were using a speaker setup. I'd maybe go for something a little cheaper... say the Audigy series? I have the ZS and it's very nice for my setup as well as headphone use... (I have the Bose triport headset)

sound cards are overrated these days. anything above the realtek alc850 onboard sound is pretty dang good. you won't see any particular advantages other than the number of "voices" available unless you have good quality speakers/headphones. i sure wouldn't buy the fatal1ty edition of the x-fi (or anything for that matter). just stick to the extreme music (but make sure it's not an OEM) unless you want the breakout boxes that come with the higher models.

I run this card, I really like it alot. With all the vast amount of setting's you can change around to get the effect your looking for, It's well worth the money I thought...
