Have you seen 1024x786 on a widescreen monitor? Lol. Its ok enough on a regular monitor, but a widescreen monitor will kill it.

You can make it so it wont distort it with the black bars on the sides...

BF2 doesnt support widescreens but there is a hack but the HUD would be all oval

LCD's look terrible unless the resolution is set to its native resolution

thats why i stick with CRTs

thats your opinion, my lcd way outperforms my crt.. i can never go back (unless i have my crt set as a second monitor)

yeah but will it be able to run game at a fluid rate w/ a 7600GT or a 7900GT?

i've seen some pictures of Vista (actually it was still called Longhorn, but) and all of the pictures were in widscreen format, i wouldn't be supprised if everything is going to switch over to widescreen eventually, but when is the question.........
