I just purchased a Western Digital Caviar Green HDD WDBAAY0010HNC-NRSN. It claims to use something called "intelliseek" to read information which varies speed between 5400 and 7200 rpm to conserve power. I took this drive over the Seagate ST310005N1A1AS-RK 1TB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive because the Seagate had such mixed reviews. I really want a quick drive that I can rely on. How fast will the Western Digital be? Will it be significantly slower than a straight 7200 rpm drive? Will it at least be faster than the six year old Hitachi that is the last old part in my new build? Any help would be great! Thanks!

90% positive it would be faster than the Hitachi and you probably wouldn't notice the difference between the Seagate and Western Digital. As far as raw speed goes, it'll be as fast as any other drive to the naked eye. Only difference to get extra speed is go SSD.
