Thanks for all the info. I had no idea the q6600 takes more power.
Do you think I will be safe putting the q6600 back in my pavilion. It has a 250 stock PSU? I can't find anywhere on the q6600 box about power.

i would not..the Q6600w draws around 110w stock..from the 12's.

I guess I'll just go pick up a cheap 350W or something at fry's to keep the home computer going.

Wattage is not whats important, the amps on the 12v rail(s) are. You should check out the Updated Power supply guide before you buy. It has a lot of good info on what brands are good and what to look for
