Default Will this Sata Card work with my PC?

I have an old Sony VAIO pc that doesn't have a SATA slot, i use IDE for my harddrive.

I'm planning on buying this one:

Newegg.com - SYBA SY-VIA-150 PCI SATA / IDE Combo Controller Card, Non Raid - Controllers / RAID Cards

so I can connect my SATA hardrive to my computer. Will it work or not?

It will work as long as you have an available PCI slot.

But that one doesn't say that it supports Vista.

You should also look for one with SATA II ports.

Like this one:
Newegg.com - Rosewill RC-211 Silicon Image 2 port SATA II PCI Express Host Controller Card(RAID 0/1/JBOD) - Controllers / RAID Cards
...although this one requires a PCIe slot.

does my motherboard need to support a SATA interface in order to connect to this the PCI slot? My motherboard does not have a SATA.

so let me get this straight:
- I can't connect SATA to IDE drives
- i buy this PCI card to my non-SATA motherboard
- I will be able to connect SATA harddrives to my PC?

That is correct. The one I linked though, is a PCIe card. If you're going for that.

don't have a PCIe slot in my old computer. Only a PCI so thats all I need. Anyways, there is only one type of PCI type right? Like any card will work on my PCI card slot?

Yea, any PCI card will work with your PCI slot.
