Right now i got a DFI LANPARTY UTLRA-D- with 265 ram at 2100

Im going to buy a stick 1 gig ram g skill, it runs at 600Mhz , im wondering will it downclock it self to 400?

lets say i only had 1 stick of 1 gig ram, at 600ghz, but my mobo only supports 400mhz, would the stick downclock it self to 400ghz?

600Mhz is the speed at which that RAM is rated to run at. You're motherboard will support up to 400Mhz by default. Manual overclocking will allow you to increase the speed of your RAM, passed the motherboards default speed. There are many things to take into consideration. I'm not the most knowledgible here about overclocking, but If you want, I can direct to several TF members that are.

But to answer your question:

Yes, you're motherboard will underclock the 600Mhz ram to default 400Mhz. Which is ok because you'll know you have some headroom for overclocking. It just depends on a few other factors.
