is it the same number? no....then why would it fit....its ok...i once tried shoving a s754 cpu into a s939, not remembering which is was.....

Keep in mind you also have to look at if the motherboard will actually recognise the processor. Example: you can't put a Core 2 Duo processor in an old Pentium 4 motherboard, even though they have the same socket type.
