Widescreen Monitor Choices

Okay, so I am in the process of setting up a big computer upgrade, but I decided that I am going to wait until windows vista comes out with dx10 vid cards so i don't miss out on the greatest vid features....

But anywho, I want to know which widescreen LCD I should get. The choices I am thinking so far are based off of some reviews I read offline such as tomshardware.com.

First, I love my viewsonic VA720 17" pro series, so I looked into this:

Second, I took a look at tomshardware since Asus is not really a big monitor producer, but the review was pretty good:

Both monitors are pretty **** sexy, especially the Asus, but what is the input of this fine computer tech forum?

Thank you in advanced for any help on the in-depth anaylsis of whether these monitors are good buys or if others are a better option.
