are there any free, basic partitioners? i was looking and partition magic is like $70.

Start --> Run --> diskmgmt.msc
Comes with XP, but it is very limited. Don't know of anything free with better functionality. Try searching www.download.com

I learn a few new tricks like running 5-8 seperate windows partitions at once with each one specializing at something. a office partition (with office. adobe etc.), a video editing partition, a sound editing partiton, a 64 bit partition, Media center partition, etc.

im sorta confused, what do you do when u first put in a new hdd? I cant remember. Do you create a small like 8mb partition and then the rest for your pc. I remember something about being told to have a real small partition or something for something but i never knew what for just I did it.

10 -20 gig partiion for xp. the rest is for the "my documents" folder
