Default Where to begin-- please help

I posted a thread earlier about me needing a PC that will run WoW and SWTOR smoothly with high graphics from just talking to people the general consensus is to just build one, they say you cant trust buying them from places and they'll screw you over etc. I am not completely opposed to doing this, but i have no idea where to begin, i don't even know what a cpu is or what ram is.

Please help, thanks.

Case: the thing that everything goes into
CPU; Central processor unit
RAM: Random access memory
GPU: Graphics processing unit ( graphics card )
PSU: Power supply unit
Motherboard: the big board the everything plugs into
HDD: Hard Disk Drive
SSD: Solid state drive
optic drive: the thing you put the disks in
Heatsink: keeps your CPU cool
OS: Operating system

you need one of each of those things to build a computer...

what is your budget for all those things?

You forgot a case, mouse, keyboard, and monitor as well (mouse, kb, and monitor are optional if already own a set).

Also, SSD isn't required; just a nice speed boost.
