Those are the entry level Core 2 chips of intel. They are essentially and Allendale with halve the cache. They were guessed to run around the speed of a stock X2 3600 but if thats so even if they are faster AMD would be a better choice.

Still can you buy them right now? I had no idea..

Its decent...but yes...i would go with an X2 3600....or if you really want intel try and get an e4300

yeah 1.6 and 1mb cache. rather go for a better e6420 best for price imo

For $7 more on that same site you can buy a X2 4200+.

The E4xxx series are entry level, and are not going to be worth it. If you're going to go C2D, got with a E6xxx series.

Yes it's the entry level chip but it still packs quite a punch. I'd take it over a x2 3600+ ANY day. It's better than the 3600 @ stock speeds and destroys it when they are both overclocked. Honestly I don't know why people keep recommending the 3600 ??
