sorry for the kinda lame topic, but which is better...a single 9800gt or two 8800gt's?

Pretty much the same.. unless one is superclocked....

Some 9800GT's MIGHT be 55nm, but most are rebranded 8800GT's

The very fine print on my xfx 9800gt, not the supplier or shipper sticker but the actual..."where it was built in korea" sticker actually says 8800gt on it still.
