and dont trust that upgrade path. AMD and the mobo makers really shafted quite a few of us with the high-end 590 mobos. "high-end" read: the most expensive am2 motherboards made. hence, i wont buy evga anymore. i would, on the other hand, buy AMD again if they would just step up to the plate.
The main problem is that Nvidia's 590's were made when there were only X2's, and Nvidia hasn't gone to a lot of effort in supporting manufacturers in BIOS upgrades. Though the manufacturers are still at least partly to blame.
Though with AMD/ATI 700 series chipsets, you're pretty much guaranteed that the AM2+ boards will support the newer AM3 CPU's.
Also, it is AMD that's making the chipsets for their own CPU's in this case. It's in their best interest to make the chipsets as compatible with future CPU's as possible.
