I currently have a 7800GT and I need to upgrade bad. There has been a lot of price changes and new video cards appearing on the market lately and frankly I am stumped on what to buy. I don't want to pay $600 for a 9800GX2 but I want some serious power. I was considering putting 2x 8800GT or 2 8800GTS in SLI. It would be cheap but still offer good performance. What do you guys think?

Which gigabyte board? There's also the 3870x2...no need for a SLI board and it gives pretty good performance

I want to get another board anyway because I dont care for this one. I would like to get SLI if recommended. I need power for games like Medieval 2 Total War.
