System Restore is the most rediculous thing Microsoft came out with next to Windows. Almost never helps and doesnt actually get rid of anything important to make it worth while. Also some people use it for the wrong reasons in hope of fixing stupid little problems. Just based on my experience.

Its called boot to safe mode and login to administrator account. I would have looked up a different way then using system restore because of what it actually does.

It may have saved your computer to the point where it could run but I bet there are parts of files and folder that were not fully deleted because of system restore. Happened to me and my friends when I was a "noob" to computers and did not know what is good and bad to my computer as a whole.

And on my other computer I see:



Maybe the start button is somewhere else?

I think system restore (which never worked) is worse then XP (all versions) cause frankly i find Win2000 to be more stable on my setup.

you resorted to reformatting before u figured out system restore? you do know there are other ways to fix problems...........and if ur not familiar with them, google is ur friend.
