Default What Sound Card?

hey i just built my new rig a few months ago and i opted out of getting a sound card since figured my integrated sound would suffice...well either it crapped out or i started to realize how bad it sucks i really don't know which. Anyways i'm gonna get a soundcard around X-mas time and i was hoping you guys could help me out here cuz i'm clueless as to what to go for. here's an idea on my pickiness/uses/whatever...haha

1. i'm a very avid music listener and gamer
2. i'm also in college AKA poor (haha) so i'm looking in the <$40 range
3. I want a mic input in my card and will use it for recording a crappy demo for myself and my band (i'm kinda the techie in my rock band.)

*for the above statement know that I don't expect a $40 card to get me any ligit recordings anyways, it's mostly just so we have something to go off of and to practice with while we're at college cuz we don't all go to school together.*

Thanks guys, Any suggestions are welcome.

ok...i've now decided to order a sound card by this weekend (i thought i'd be able to tollerate it for a month...but no. haha)

Both of those cards seem to be pretty good but I really can't spend more than $40 It's a very firm limit i know, but i can't really afford anything more right now.

What about this one. it's cheap and has good reviews

I'd say get an Audigy 2 ZS the one you posted seems like a good deal but.... If you can try and get all of your bandmates to pitch in and get a low cost X-fi i think i saw some for ~100 on tigerdireact last week, if those stingy B@$+aRd$ don't ant to pictch in then get the Audigy(if your really planning on taking this "Band" farther i would suggest saving up for a lon time and getting this
