What makes a "gaming LCD monitor"

never noticed any uneven lighting, it was a pretty good monitor at it's time (about 350.00 samsung) I'm leaning towards the 25.5 asus atm, cause wow, that's huge.

Usually, monitors that don't have an inbuilt scaler have lower input lag. Scalers take time to process the image before displaying it.

If you're using the monitor with your PC, your video card should do driver scaling anyway.

Also, TN panels have the fastest response times, the worst image quality, and are the cheapest.
IPS panels have almost as fast response times as TN's, the best image quality, and are the most expensive.
VA panels usually have the worst response times (though they're generally not particularly bad), almost as high image quality as IPS panels, and cost nearly as much.
