Default What is GO stepping?

Ive heard this mentioned a couple times in relation to the Q6600 processor, what is it?

a stepping indicates basically a different version of a processor. G0 is the newer q6600 stepping (the old one is B3). the G0 is greatly improved over the B3 stepping especially in heat output (hence improved overclocking). you can spot a G0 by looking for the code "SLACR" on the processor's IHS (the metal cap on the processor) or on the box.

G0 runs at lower volates. Thus means lower temps and better over clocks.

sorry, veedub is right. it is correctly called a revision, not a stepping. i fell in on the common title. stepping actually refers to something different and i've tried to clarify before but no one listens

Its not stepping its like the a newer version of the CPU for example the G92 8800GTS (complete BS? )

In CPU-z It will say stepping B and Revision G0...

I was scared that i bought the older verison by mistake for a while, even though it said it was G0 on watever site i bought my proc from..
